TSR2015 Day 3 (LSL vs. Chaudiere)

Match #3: #LSL v #CHA (lac st louis v Chaudiere)
Result: 2:1 #LSL

What a difference a day of rest makes… this #LSL team came out today and meant business. Unlike wednesday’s start which was sluggish, today the girls were firing on all cylinders.. the possession and control was looking good early on and consistently. #LSL took the lead into the half.. #CHA tied it up inside the first 15mins of the 2nd and late half heroics and constant pressure got #LSL the much deserved lead and subsequent win. I truly believe the score line was the correct one. Two strong teams, one played better. Simple. The strategy brought into game 2 was evident again today as few substitutions occurred and a couple players didn’t see any game again. The difficult part of this whole ‘experience ‘ event.. difficult for everyone involved. Players, parents, coaches.

#LSL now gets to play for the gold on saturday 4pm start. This match will be a difficult one. #LSL defensive game will have to be top notch as Capitale has put in 10 goals in 3 matches.

Btw if u ever want to criticize a referee make sure that you are not sitting behind the referee evaluator!! Lol.. a couple parents that I was sitting with got a tongue lashing. Yessss.. referees are human beings… but in fairness there were some not so great calls and let’s face it, this guy evaluates referees… he will of course defend them.. It’s his job to do so. 🙂

TSR2015 Day 2 (LSL vs. Lanaudiere)

Match #2: #LSL v #LAN (lac st louis v lanaudiere)
Result: 1:0 #LSL

After match 1 there was a lot off buzz on the parents side over the selection of players for the PKs… speculation was rampant but in the end the 5 that were selected were selected and there was no real issue with it… personally knowing the players well I would have gone a different way but hey what the hell to each is own, no?.. I think the only surprise if anything was that the coach told the 5 they had to choose the order and what u ended up getting was 3 unsure players who didn’t want to be ‘that player’ and in the end emotions got the best of them. At the end of the day this PK result will be used as a tie breaker for placement if it comes to that and I can tell you it won’t.
Yesterday’s match was an earlier start; 9am.. #LSL started very slowly out of the gate.. slow paced.. do I dare say borderline boring…they looked lethargic.. late night and early morning does that to you. As was the case in the 2nd half of the first match… no scoring chances for #LSL whereas #LAN came close twice to scoring.. #LSL goalie coming up big with a little luck mixed in as well. #LSL did pick it up enough to generate one scoring chance which they made good on.. sometimes that’s all that is needed.. unlike the first match, tactically the coaches decided less is more and whereas all but one player saw the field game 1; 4 players did not see the field game 2 and I believe had there not been an injury I would say that number would be 5.

This #LSL team could easily be 0:2 but find themselves currently tied for 1st with Chaudière the team they face tomorrow, Friday July 31st… should be a dandy..

This team is kinda reminiscent of the Italian National teams of the past that were notorious for coming out slow during the group stage and then picking up steam as the tournament goes on.. 🙂

Looking forward to tomorrow’s match.

TSR2015 Day 1 (LSL vs Montreal Concordia)

Match #1: #LSL v #MTL (lac st louis v montreal Concordia)
Result: 1:1 (Montreal wins PK)

My initial reaction this morning to seeing the Montreal team get on the field early was one of surprise.. The match was to start at 1045 but it was crazy hot and they were out on the pitch at 1015..my thought was that it was too soon given the heat and it would come back to haunt them. I was wrong.
The first half was pretty much uneventful.. quiet in a way in terms of play and chances. The #LSL team passing and possession game was spot on. #LSL took the 1:0 lead and carried that into the 2nd half.
The 2nd half was to be a difficult one for the #LSL team.. #MTL tied the match and continued pretty consistently to press the #LSL team creating several dangerous chances. Fortunately for #LSL #MTL could not capitalize. On the flip side #LSL was not able to create any scoring chances.
The match ended in a draw and PK was won 3:0 by #MTL. I can only guess that nerves got the best of the #LSL players as the first 3 failed to put the ball behind the goalie.

The back four 🙂
